Here’s what every chip, icon and colour on a booking means. In NomNom Web, hover over one for more. To get around the diary itself, see Finding your way round the diary: List, Chart and Plan.
Booking rows in NomNom Web
Each row in the List view reads: time, guest (surname first), covers, table, icons, status, chips.
Chips
- Allergy (red): the booking has allergies recorded; the side panel shows them.
- Awaiting card (amber): your team took the booking for a meal that asks for a card or deposit, and the guest hasn’t added one yet. It clears once they do, or once you record a payment on the booking, such as a deposit taken on your card machine (see Taking a card to hold a booking).
- Web (blue): the guest booked online, on your booking page or through Google.
At most two chips show, in that order, the second as just its icon.
Icons
- Red broken link: its table has been deleted or renamed, so it isn’t holding a seat. Move it to a real table.
- Amber people icon: the party is bigger than its table: Party of 6 on a table for 4.
- Grey padlock: Customer requested this table. It can’t be moved or swapped until you untick the request (see When a guest requests a specific table).
- Amber sticky note: the booking has Notes. Hover to read them.
- Green coin: money has been taken, such as Paid £20.00.
- Blue card: Card on file, with nothing charged yet.
- Green speech bubble: SMS sent to the guest.
- Brown paw: dogs are coming; hover for how many.
In a narrow window the table column and these icons can drop out; click the booking for its details.
Colours
- Status pill: a tint of the colour you gave that status (see Creating your own booking statuses). No pill means no status.
- Gold star by the name: a VIP guest.
- Amber time: it’s past the booking’s time today and it’s still on your Default booking status, so they haven’t been marked as arrived. If new bookings start with no status, times don’t turn amber.
- Grey name and status: a no-show.
- Red, crossed-out name and a grey Cancelled pill: cancelled, shown when Show cancelled is ticked.
- Pale blue row: the booking you’ve selected.
The chart
- Each bar is in its status colour: soft pastels, or full strength if you switch on Bold booking colours.
- A bar shows the surname, times and party: x 2+1 is two adults and a child.
- Bar icons: broken link (table removed, so it sits in Unallocated), padlock, red diamond (allergy), orange note and paw.
- Stripes at the end of a bar: the party left early and that time is free again. When a party has left can fade or hide their bookings.
- A pale grey-blue Online booking bar, in progress: someone is booking that table online right now.
- The red line is the time now.

The bottom bar in NomNom Web
- RESERVATIONS and COVERS are the totals for what’s on screen (see How bookings and covers are counted). 2 cancelled, on the left, counts cancelled bookings.
- SMS CREDITS turns amber when running low.
- 1 on a removed table (red) and 1 on a table too small (amber) count the bookings with those warning icons. Click one to open the first of those bookings, and again for the next.
- Date pills: Full Close (red), Partial Close (orange), Online Disabled (amber) and Custom Times (blue). Hover over one for the details; admins can click one to open Schedule changes.
In the phone app
A booking card starts with a small figure (a walking person means a walk-in), then the name, party size, table and status (just its first letter, on a phone). The icons are: gold star (VIP), padlock (requested table), globe (booked online), red diamond (allergy), orange note, speech bubble (text sent), green coin (paid), blue card (card on file), amber card (awaiting card) and paw. An amber or red table number means the table is too small or gone.
Warnings in the NomNom Web booking form
- A red time: you moved a booking to a room, meal or date that doesn’t offer its time. NomNom keeps the time and asks Time not available when you save: Go back or Save anyway.
- 4 seats selected for a party of 6 (amber): the tables you picked don’t seat everyone.
Good to know
- Striped days in the calendar are days you’re closed.
- Going over a venue limit brings up its own warning (see Capping guests at one time across your whole venue).
