At the bottom of your diary, NomNom adds up the day for you: how many bookings, and how many guests (covers). This explains exactly what goes into those numbers, so the kitchen and the floor are working from the same figure.
Where you’ll see the totals
- In NomNom Web, at the bottom right: RESERVATIONS and COVERS. In the List view, each time also has its own count beside it, such as 3 bookings and 9 covers.
- In the phone app, at the bottom next to your SMS credits, such as 14 bookings and 38 guests. Guests there means the same as covers.
What counts
- Covers are adults plus children. High chairs and dogs aren’t added on.
- Cancelled bookings never count, in either figure, even with Show cancelled ticked. They’re counted separately instead, as 2 cancelled (bottom left in NomNom Web, under the totals in the phone app).
- A no-show counts as a booking but not as covers. They did book, but nobody sat down. This applies to any status set to Counts as a no-show (see Creating your own booking statuses).
- Parties that have left still count. They came and ate. Fading or hiding them on the chart doesn’t change the totals.
- Walk-ins count like any other booking.
- Every other status counts, whether it’s arrived, seated, provisional or one you’ve made up, and so do bookings still waiting for a table.
The totals follow what’s on screen
The totals are for the day, meal and room you’re looking at. Pick Dinner and you see Dinner’s numbers; pick the Garden Room tab and you see that room’s. For the whole day, choose All meals and All rooms in NomNom Web, or All Meals and All Rooms in the phone app.

An example
Friday dinner has 10 bookings for 32 guests. One party of 4 cancels, and a couple (2 guests) never turns up, so you mark them as a no-show. The totals show:
- 9 RESERVATIONS: the 10, less the cancellation. The no-show still counts.
- 26 COVERS: 32, less the 4 who cancelled and the 2 who didn’t come.
- 1 cancelled, shown separately.
Good to know
- The time headings follow the same rules. In the phone app, the Guests number beside each time counts covers just as the total at the bottom does, so no-shows and cancelled bookings aren’t in it. NomNom Web’s time counts follow the same rules as its totals.
- Changing a status changes past days too. The totals are worked out as you look at them, so switching Counts as a no-show on or off for a status updates every day it was used, past days included.
- Marking a no-show frees the table for someone else (see Cancelling a booking and marking a no-show).
- Search results show each booking’s full party size, whatever its status.
