The Chart view shows your tables down the side and the day’s times across the top, with each booking as a bar on its table. To reshuffle during service, pick a booking up and drop it on another table. If that table’s taken, NomNom offers to swap the two round, and a move you didn’t mean can be undone.
Move a booking to another table
In NomNom Web: Chart (in the top bar) → drag a booking. In the phone app: the List / Chart / Plan switch at the top of your bookings → Chart → touch and hold a booking.
1. Open the chart. Click or tap Chart in the List / Chart / Plan switch.
2. Pick the booking up. In NomNom Web, click the booking’s bar and start dragging. On the phone, touch and hold the booking until it lifts off the chart.
3. Drag it up or down to the new table. The table you’re over is highlighted, with its name where the booking will land.
4. Let go. The move saves straight away, and a message at the bottom confirms it, such as Moved Sam Taylor to Table 4.
A drag only ever changes the table: the booking keeps its time. To change the time, edit the booking instead.
If the table is already taken
If another booking is on that table at an overlapping time, NomNom asks before changing anything:
- Swap tables? You dragged a booking from one table onto another booking. Click Swap and they change places: yours takes their table, and theirs moves to the table yours came from, keeping its own time.
- Bump booking? You dragged a booking from the Unallocated row onto a table that’s taken. Click Bump and the booking already there moves to Unallocated, so yours gets the table. Seat the bumped party again when you’re ready.
- Booking in progress means a guest is booking that table online right now. It’s usually best to pick another table.
- Table already booked names a booking on that table the chart wasn’t showing. Assign anyway would put both bookings on it at once.
Click Cancel on any of these and nothing moves.
Undo a move
After an ordinary move, the message at the bottom has an UNDO button for a few seconds. Click or tap it and the booking goes back exactly as it was.
Swaps and bumps have no UNDO. To reverse a swap, drag the booking back and Swap again. To reverse a bump, drag your booking to Unallocated, then the bumped one back onto its table.
Tables a guest has requested
A padlock on a booking means the guest asked for that table and Requested table is ticked. NomNom won’t move it: you’ll see a message asking you to untick Requested table in the booking first. Dropping another booking on top of it won’t swap or bump it either. See When a guest requests a specific table.
Good to know
- Bookings on more than one table have a bar on each. Dragging one bar moves just that table, and the others stay put. See Seating a big party across more than one table.
- Taking a table away. Drag a bar onto the Unallocated row at the top of the chart. The booking keeps its time and loses that table. See Saving a booking without a table and seating it later.
- Size isn’t checked when you drag. You can drop a party of eight on a two-top. NomNom Web then flags it: the side panel says Party of 8 on a table for 2, and the bar along the bottom counts bookings on a table too small.
- Grey Online booking bars are guests partway through booking online. You can’t move them.
- PINs. If your venue asks for a PIN, you’ll enter it before a move, swap, bump or undo saves, in NomNom Web and the phone app (see Requiring a PIN before staff save a booking).
- Read-only staff can look at the chart but can’t move bookings (see What Admin, Standard and Read-only staff can do).
