Every booking has three table actions in its menu: Move to table, Swap tables and Unallocate. They’re handy when you’re not looking at the chart, or when the table you want is in another area. Each one saves straight away, and you can undo it for a few seconds afterwards.
In NomNom Web: right-click a booking in List, Chart or Plan. In the phone app: tap a booking.
Move a booking to a free table
1. Open Move to table. In NomNom Web, right-click the booking and choose Move to table. In the phone app, tap the booking, then tap Move to.
2. Choose the area, if you have more than one. Your areas are listed across the top of the window (along the bottom on the phone). Pick a table in another area and the booking moves into that area.
3. Click a free table. Free tables lists every table that’s free at the booking’s time for its whole turn length, with how many each one seats. The table it’s on now is highlighted. Click another and the booking moves straight away, with a message such as Moved Sam Taylor to table 6.
Tables smaller than the party are listed too, so check the seat count before you click. If you see No free tables, try another area, or change the booking’s time or turn length first.
Swap tables with another booking
1. Open Swap tables. In NomNom Web, right-click the booking and choose Swap tables. In the phone app, tap it, then tap Swap tables with.
2. Pick the other booking. You’ll see the day’s other bookings in the same area that have a table, each with its time, tables, party size and meal.
3. That’s it. The two bookings exchange tables — all of them, if either is on more than one — and each keeps its own time. A message confirms the swap.
Check the times before you pick. If the other booking is at a different time, someone else may already be on one of those tables then. NomNom spots this and shows Table already booked; click Cancel to leave both bookings as they were.
Unallocate a booking
Choose Unallocate from the same menu. The booking keeps its date, time and party size but loses all its tables, and waits in the Unallocated row at the top of the chart until you seat it again. It’s only offered when the booking has a table. See Saving a booking without a table and seating it later.
Or change the tables in the booking
In NomNom Web, click the booking, click Edit reservation in the side panel, pick tables under Tables, then click Save changes. In the phone app, tap the booking, tap View Details, then Tables. Pick the tables, tap Confirm, then Save Reservation.
Requested tables are locked
If the guest asked for their table and Requested table is ticked, the menu doesn’t offer Move to table, Swap tables or Unallocate. The booking isn’t offered as anyone else’s swap either, and its tables are greyed out in the booking form. Untick Requested table in the booking first. See When a guest requests a specific table.
Good to know
- UNDO is on the message after every move, swap and unallocate. It puts things back as they were; a swap is simply swapped back.
- Same day, same area. You can only swap with a booking in the same area on the same day. To move a party to another area, use Move to table.
- Online-only table settings don’t limit you. A table switched off for online booking is still offered here. A table that can’t be booked that day under Available days isn’t (see Choosing when each table can be booked).
- Cancelled bookings don’t have these options, in NomNom Web or the phone app.
