Not every table should be bookable all the time. A terrace table might only be out in summer, a big round table might only go out at weekends, and your best window table might be one you'd rather hand out yourself than give away online. Each table has two settings for this. Available days sets the days of the week the table is in use at all. Online booking decides whether guests booking online can be given it, and on which days.
Keep a table off online booking
1. Open Configuration. In NomNom Web, open your account menu at the top right and choose Configuration. There's also a Configuration button at the bottom of the left-hand bar. Only admins see it.
2. Choose Tables. Click Tables on the left. If you have more than one room, pick the room first.
3. Switch off WEB. Each table has a switch in the WEB column. Click it to turn it off. It saves straight away.
To do several tables at once, tick them, then choose Modify → Disable web booking.
In NomNom Web: Configuration → Tables → the WEB switch. In the phone app: Configuration → Tables → tap a table → switch off Online Booking → Save.
Guests booking online are then never given that table. That covers your booking page, the booking button on your own website, NomNom Discover and Reserve with Google. You and your team can still book it as normal, so it's handy for tables you like to allocate yourself.
The same switch is in the table's own settings, called Online booking. While it's on, Smallest party online appears just below it. The article Keeping big tables for bigger parties online explains what that does.
Below that is Online booking days. Switch off any day the table shouldn't be offered online, then click Save. Your team can still book it on any day it's available.
Choose the days a table is in use
1. Open the table. In Configuration → Tables, click the table's name. Clicking its entry in the DAYS column opens the same window.
2. Pick the days. Under Available days, a table starts with all seven days on. Click a day to switch it off, and click it again to switch it back on. The line underneath sums it up, for example Bookable Fri, Sat, Sun. Applies to staff and online bookings.
3. Save. Click Save. The DAYS column now shows the days you picked, such as Fri, Sat, Sun, instead of Every day.
In NomNom Web: Configuration → Tables → click a table → Available days → Save. In the phone app: Configuration → Tables → tap a table → Available Days → tick the days → Done → Save.
Unlike the online switch, this applies to everyone. On the days you've switched off, nobody can be given the table for a new booking, whether they book online or through your team.
What your team sees on a table's day off
- The booking form doesn't offer it. When you make a booking or a walk-in for that day, in NomNom Web or the phone app, the table isn't in the list to choose from, and NomNom won't pick it for you.
- Starting from the chart. If you click that table's row on the reservation chart to start a booking, the booking opens without a table and asks you to pick another.
- The chart and floor plan still show it. The table looks the same as any other table on every day, so if you really need it, you can still drag a booking onto it.
- Optimise tables leaves it alone. It won't move anyone onto a table on its day off.
Good to know
- Days are for everyone. The online switch is only for online bookings. If a table is switched off for online booking, your team can still book it on any of its available days.
- Table groups have their own settings. Switching a table off for a day, or for online booking, doesn't change the groups it's part of. A group of 11 and 12 can still be booked on table 11's day off. Choose Table groups instead of Tables and set the group the same way.
- Putting a table away for the season. Switch every day off and the DAYS column reads No days. That's better than deleting the table, because nothing is lost. Switch its days back on when it's back in use.
- Move bookings before you change the days. Changing a table's days doesn't move bookings that are already on it. But in NomNom Web, if you open one of those bookings to make a change, the form won't offer its table on that day, and saving leaves the booking unallocated. It's simplest to move them first.
- New tables start bookable every day, with online booking on.
- In the phone app, the Tables list doesn't show a table's days. A globe icon marks the tables that are on for online booking.
