When a member of staff leaves, switch them off in People & Access. It signs them out of every phone, tablet and browser they use NomNom on, and stops them signing in again. Nothing is deleted: the bookings they took keep their name, and you can switch them back on if they return.
In NomNom Web: account menu (top right) → People & Access → pick the person. In the phone app: Settings → People & Access → tap the person.
Switch someone off
1. Open People & Access. In NomNom Web, click your name at the top right and choose People & Access. In the phone app, open Settings and tap People & Access. Only admins see it (see What Admin, Standard and Read-only staff can do).
2. Open the person. Click their name under Team. With a long list, type their name into the search box at the top.
3. Switch Active off. Under Account, switch off Active. There’s no Save button: it takes effect straight away, and the line under it changes to Signed out everywhere; cannot sign in.
Back on the list, they move to the bottom of Team with an Inactive label, and the count beside Team shows how many people are active and inactive.
What switching someone off does
- Every device is signed out. Each phone, tablet and NomNom Web browser signed in as them loses access. A phone that’s online is signed out within moments: it shows This device’s access has been removed by an administrator. and goes back to the setup screen. A browser shows Your session has ended. Please sign in again. the next time it tries to save something, or NomNom is opened or brought back on screen.
- They can’t sign back in. Their password, an emailed sign-in code and Keep me signed in all stop working, in NomNom Web and in the NomNom dashboard. A sign-in attempt simply fails, as if the details were wrong.
- Their booking PIN stops working, if your venue asks for a PIN before a booking is saved.
- They leave the Taken by list. New bookings can’t be credited to them, but bookings they’ve already taken still show their name (see Recording who took a booking: Taken by).
Good to know
- A phone that’s switched off or offline is signed out as soon as NomNom is next opened on it.
- Codes you’ve given them. A device access code lasts 48 hours. If you made one for them recently that they haven’t used, remove it: in the NomNom dashboard (Admin dashboard in the account menu), open Users, find it under Pending access codes and click Revoke.
- The account owner can’t be switched off. If you try, you’ll see The company owner cannot be deactivated.
- If they come back, switch Active on again. They can sign in to NomNom Web with their old password. A phone needs a new access code: click New code under Devices (see Signing in on another device).
- There’s no delete button in People & Access. Switching someone off is how you remove them, and it can always be undone.
- Names for Taken by (staff who never sign in) have In the Taken by list instead of Active. Switch it off to hide the name; bookings already credited to it keep it.
- Just one phone lost? Leave the person active and sign out that device instead: see Checking which devices are signed in, and signing one out.
