When a guest pays a deposit, pays through a payment link, or buys a gift voucher on your voucher page, the money doesn’t pass through NomNom. It goes straight into your own Stripe account, with your business as the seller, and Stripe then pays it out to your bank. NomNom never holds your money and never sees your bank details.
What goes into your Stripe account
- Deposits and payment links are paid in as soon as the guest pays.
- Cards held to secure a booking don’t move any money. Money only goes in if you charge a no-show or late-cancellation fee (see Charging a no-show or late-cancellation fee).
- Gift vouchers bought online are paid in when the buyer pays, less NomNom’s platform fee.
Stripe takes its own fee from each payment too, so what arrives is a little less than the guest paid. See What NomNom and Stripe charge on deposits, vouchers and SMS.
Money you take at your own till — on your card machine, in cash, or for a voucher sold in person — goes through your till and bank as usual. NomNom just keeps a record of it (see Recording card machine and cash payments and Selling gift vouchers in person).
When Stripe pays you
Stripe pays your balance into your bank on its payout schedule. NomNom doesn’t set that schedule and can’t speed a payout up. To see your balance, when the next payout is due and what’s already been paid, open your Stripe dashboard:
1. Open your Stripe settings. In NomNom Web, open Settings from the account menu at the top right (or the button at the bottom of the left-hand bar) and choose Stripe under PAYMENTS. In the phone app, go to Settings and tap Stripe. You need to be an admin.
2. Click Manage Account. Your Stripe dashboard opens, in a new tab in NomNom Web or inside the app on your phone.
In NomNom Web: Settings → Stripe → Manage Account. In the phone app: Settings → Stripe → Manage Account.
Changing the bank account you’re paid into
Your bank details are held by Stripe, not NomNom, so you change them in your Stripe dashboard. Open it with Manage Account as above and update your payout bank account there. There’s nothing to change in NomNom.
If the business itself is changing hands, not just the bank account, you may need a different Stripe account instead. See Unlinking or switching your Stripe account.
Good to know
- Payouts paused? If Bank payouts enabled has a red cross on your Stripe settings, Stripe isn’t paying out, and money waits in your Stripe balance until you give Stripe what it needs. See Stripe says "Action Required": fixing a restricted account.
- No Manage Account button? It only appears once your account can take card payments. If you see Setup Stripe Account instead, you haven’t connected Stripe yet: see Connecting card payments with Stripe.
- Refunds you make from NomNom go back to the guest out of your Stripe balance. See Refunding a deposit or card payment.
- Apple Pay and Google Pay payments reach you the same way as any other card payment.
