Your Stripe account is where NomNom sends deposits, card charges and online voucher sales. You can disconnect it and connect a different one — if the business changes hands, say. Unlinking has knock-on effects for bookings you’ve already taken, so read this first.
Before you unlink
Deposits and cards that guests gave under your current Stripe account belong to that account. Once it’s unlinked, NomNom can’t refund those deposits or charge those cards, even after you connect a new account. So first:
- Refund any deposits you owe (see Refunding a deposit or card payment).
- Charge any no-show or late-cancellation fees you mean to (see Charging a no-show or late-cancellation fee).
- Bear in mind that upcoming bookings with a card held will no longer have a card you can charge.
Unlink your Stripe account
1. Open your Stripe settings. In NomNom Web, open Settings from the account menu at the top right (or the button at the bottom of the left-hand bar) and choose Stripe under PAYMENTS. In the phone app, go to Settings and tap Stripe. You need to be an admin.
2. Click Unlink Stripe Account. It’s the red button at the bottom.
3. Confirm. NomNom asks Are you sure you want to unlink your Stripe account? Click Unlink. You’ll see Stripe account unlinked, and the page goes back to Setup Stripe Account.
In NomNom Web: Settings → Stripe → Unlink Stripe Account. In the phone app: Settings → Stripe → Unlink Stripe Account.
What changes straight away
- Your booking page stops asking for cards and deposits. Guests can still book.
- Confirmation emails stop asking guests to add a card for bookings you take.
- You can’t send card requests or payment links. NomNom tells you the venue hasn’t connected a Stripe account.
- Links you’ve already sent stop working. A guest who opens one sees Card Setup Unavailable or Payment Unavailable and is asked to contact you.
- Guests can’t buy gift vouchers online. Vouchers already sold can still be redeemed.
Unlinking only disconnects the account from NomNom. It doesn’t close the account at Stripe or move any money out of it.
Connect a different account
1. Click Setup Stripe Account. It’s on the same page once you’ve unlinked. Stripe’s sign-up opens, in a new tab in NomNom Web or inside the app on your phone.
2. Fill in Stripe’s form with the business and bank details for the new account, then come back to NomNom.
3. Check the checklist. Once Card payments & deposits enabled is ticked, deposits, card requests and online voucher sales all use the new account. For the full walkthrough, see Connecting card payments with Stripe.
Setup Stripe Account starts a new Stripe account for NomNom. If you unlinked by mistake, contact us before you set up a new one.
Good to know
- Just changing bank? You don’t need to unlink. Change the bank account in your Stripe dashboard instead: see When deposit and voucher money reaches your bank.
- Stripe showing Action Required? Unlinking won’t fix it. See Stripe says "Action Required": fixing a restricted account.
- Your records stay. Payments already taken still show on their bookings.
