Resetting a member of staff's password

If a member of staff can’t remember their NomNom Web password, an admin can reset it in People & Access. You get a one-time code to give them; they sign in with it and choose their own new password.

In NomNom Web: account menu (top right) → People & Access → pick the person → Reset password. In the phone app: Settings → People & Access → tap the person → Reset password.

Reset the password

1. Open the person. In People & Access, click their name under Team.

2. Click Reset password. It’s under Account. Their current password stops working as soon as you confirm, so click Reset only when you’re ready to pass on the code.

3. Pass on the code. The One-time password window shows a six-digit code and the username they sign in with. Read it out, or click Copy code to paste it into a message, then click Done. It isn’t shown again, but you can always reset again for a new one.

What your colleague does next

1. Sign in to NomNom Web as usual — with their username on your team’s sign-in link, or their email address if they’re an admin — and type the code where the password goes. (Not Sign in with a one-time code: that button emails a different code.)

2. Choose a new password. NomNom shows Set a new password. They type it twice, at least 8 characters, and click Update password. They’re then signed straight in.

The code only gets them as far as choosing a password. Once they’ve set their own, it stops working. Not sure which link your team signs in on? See Using NomNom in your web browser.

Good to know

  • It also lifts a lockout. After five wrong passwords, NomNom Web locks the account for up to 15 minutes. A reset clears that, so they can sign in straight away.
  • Phones don’t use a password. The phone app signs in with an access code, so nothing changes on their phone. A reset doesn’t sign them out of a browser they already have open either. To sign a device out, see Checking which devices are signed in, and signing one out.
  • Admins can do it themselves. Anyone who signs in with an email address can use the forgotten-password link on the sign-in page: see Forgotten your password?.
  • A shared email address. If a person’s email is shared with other venues, you’ll see a message saying only NomNom support can reset their password. If they’re an admin, they can reset it themselves with Forgotten your password? on the sign-in page.
  • Names for Taken by never sign in, so there’s no password to reset. For a forgotten booking PIN, use Reset booking PIN on the same page (see Requiring a PIN before staff save a booking).
  • From the NomNom dashboard. On the Users page, Reset password does the same job and shows a temporary password. Send web login emails the person their sign-in link, username and a one-time password instead; it needs an email address for them.
