Opening on a day you're normally closed (bank holidays)

Closed on Mondays but opening for the bank holiday? Doing lunch on Christmas Eve when you’re normally evenings only? You don’t need to touch your usual times. Add an Open meals change for the date and NomNom opens the meal with its normal sittings for that day only. Every other week carries on exactly as before.

Open a meal for one date

1. Open Schedule Changes. In NomNom Web, click More (the three dots in the top bar) and choose Schedule changes. In the phone app, tap the menu button at the top left, then Schedule Changes.

2. Pick the date. Choose the day on the calendar — Monday 28 December, say, for the Boxing Day bank holiday.

3. Choose Close / open meals. Click New change, then Close / open meals. On the phone, tap Add Schedule Change, then Close / Open Meals.

4. Switch to Open meals. Pick Open meals at the top of the form. Your date is already filled in; the arrows either side of it move it a day at a time.

5. Choose the meals. Each meal is listed under its area, with the sittings it will open with — its usual times. Click Tap to open next to each meal you want and it changes to Open. Click it again to change your mind.

6. Decide about online bookings. Guests can book online starts off, so only your team can book these times. Turn it on to put them on your booking page as well.

7. Save. Click Save at the top right. The date now shows a Custom Times change called Open: Dinner (or whichever meals you opened), unless you typed your own Description.

In NomNom Web: More → Schedule changes → pick the date → New change → Close / open meals → Open meals. In the phone app: menu → Schedule Changes → tap the date → Add Schedule Change → Close / Open Meals → Open meals.

Several dates at once

Choose Date range instead of Single date, set Start and End, then use Days to pick the weekdays — every Monday in December, for example. A range can be up to a year long.

When a meal can’t be opened

A meal you can’t open shows in grey, with the reason underneath:

  • Already runs on this date or Already runs on some of these dates — your usual times already serve the meal then. Opening it would replace its real sittings, so NomNom won’t. For a range, shorten it or use Days to leave those days out.
  • Already has changed times here: use Modify times — the date already has custom times for this meal. Change them under Modify times instead.
  • No times set up for this room — the meal has no times in that area to open with. Add some first (see Creating meals and your booking times).

Good to know

  • Different times on the day? Open the meal first, then go back to the date, choose Modify times and change its sittings there.
  • A date that already has custom times. The meals you open are added to that change, and nothing already in it changes.
  • Don’t mix a closure and an opening. If the calendar shows Full Close or Partial Close on the date, delete or change that closure first (see Closing dates and one-off changes).
  • Tables with set days. A table you’ve made available only on certain days stays unavailable on the day you open (see Choosing when each table can be booked).
  • Undoing it. Click the change on the calendar and choose Delete Custom Times at the bottom, or in NomNom Web click the bin next to it.
  • Admins only. Everyone can see schedule changes, but only admins can add or change them (see What Admin, Standard and Read-only staff can do).
  • No Open meals on your phone? If the phone app’s menu says Add Closure instead of Close / Open Meals, it’s an older version. Use NomNom Web until it updates.
