A season is a separate set of booking times for part of the year — longer evenings in summer, say, or extra sittings over Christmas. On the season’s dates NomNom offers its times instead of your usual ones, both online and when you take a booking yourself. Every other date carries on with your usual times, which NomNom calls Default. You don’t have to build a season from scratch: copy your usual times in and change only what’s different. Add a season
1. Open Times. In NomNom Web, click Configuration at the bottom of the left-hand bar (it’s in the account menu at the top right too) and choose Times. Along the bottom is the Season bar, with a Default chip and one for each season you already have.
2. Click the + at the end of the Season bar. Hover over it and it says Add season.
3. Name it and set its dates. Type a Season name — Summer, say. Choose Every year for dates that come round every year, or Specific dates for a one-off stretch, such as this Christmas. Then set the Start and End. For Every year only the day and month count, and it can run over New Year: 1 November to 28 February is fine.
4. Choose what to copy. Copy times from starts on Don’t copy (start empty). Change it to Default times to start from your usual times, or pick one of your other seasons.
5. Click Add season. The season is created with a full copy of the times you chose.
6. Change what’s different. Click the new season’s chip in the Season bar. The list above now shows that season’s times: add a sitting, change a MAX, turn days on or off, just as you would for your usual times. Your usual times aren’t touched.
In NomNom Web: Configuration → Times → the + in the Season bar at the bottom. In the phone app: Configuration → Times → the + beside the season chips at the bottom; the button to finish is Save.
What gets copied
- Every meal’s times, each with how many guests it takes, the days it runs, whether it can be booked online and any turn length set on that time.
- Any area’s own times, if you give different areas different times.
Events aren’t copied — they keep their own dates and times. And the copy is a one-off: from then on the season is completely separate, so changing one list never changes the other.
How NomNom picks the times for each date
- A season replaces your usual times, it doesn’t add to them. Once a season has times for a meal, they’re the only times for that meal on the season’s dates. If your summer Dinner only runs Thursday to Saturday, Dinner is closed on the other days all summer — those days don’t fall back to Default.
- Each meal is decided on its own. If a season has no times for a meal, that meal uses its Default times on the season’s dates, so a Christmas season can change Dinner and leave Lunch alone. An empty list doesn’t close the meal, even though it says No time slots.
- If seasons overlap, the shorter one wins. When two seasons cover the same date, NomNom uses the one covering fewer days, so an Easter week can sit inside a longer spring season. If the shorter one has no times for a meal, that meal uses the longer one, and then Default. Try not to give two overlapping seasons exactly the same length, so it’s clear which you mean.
Seasons and areas
If you have more than one area, each area can have its own times within a season, just as it can in Default — see Different booking times for different rooms. Two things to watch:
- Fill in All rooms (default) first. A season only takes over a meal once its All rooms (default) list has times for it. Without that, an area’s own times in the season are ignored and the area keeps its usual times.
- An area’s own times don’t follow it into a season by themselves. Copying from Default times brings them across. If you start empty, each area uses the season’s All rooms (default) times until you give it its own.
Changing or deleting a season
Click the season’s chip in the Season bar, then the pencil next to it (Edit season). You can rename it, change its dates, or switch between Every year and Specific dates, then click Save. Its times stay exactly as they are. In NomNom Web the selected season’s dates show just below the bar, which is a quick way to check them.
To remove a season, click Delete season in the same window and confirm. The season and all its times are deleted, and this can’t be undone. Its dates go back to Default, or to another season that covers them.
In NomNom Web: Configuration → Times → click the season → the pencil. In the phone app: Configuration → Times → tap the season → the pencil.
Good to know
- Bookings you’ve already taken don’t change. Adding, changing or deleting a season only changes which times are offered for new bookings. Existing bookings keep their date and time, even if that time is no longer on the list.
- Copying is only offered when you add a season. If you’ve just added one and forgot to copy, the quickest fix is to delete it and add it again.
- Just one date? For a single day, such as a bank holiday, a schedule change is usually simpler than a season, and it applies on top of any season: in NomNom Web, More (the three dots in the top bar) → Schedule changes; in the phone app, Schedule Changes in the menu.
