Changing the online guest limit for one date

Each meal can have an Online maximum guests: the most guests who can book it online in a day (see Limiting how many guests can book online). For one date you can give it a different number — more for a busy Saturday, fewer on a night you’re short-staffed, or no limit at all — and the next day goes back to your usual setting by itself.

Set a limit for one date

1. Open Schedule Changes. In NomNom Web, click More (the three dots in the top bar) and choose Schedule changes. In the phone app, tap the menu button at the top left, then Schedule Changes.

2. Pick the date. Choose the day on the calendar.

3. Choose Modify times. Click New change, then Modify times. On the phone, tap Add Schedule Change, then Modify Times. The Custom Times form opens on your date. If that date already has custom times, NomNom opens those instead, so everything for the day stays in one change.

4. Pick the meal. Meals are listed under their area. In NomNom Web, click the meal on the left; on the phone, tap it.

5. Set the limit. Above the meal’s times is Online guest limit for this date, showing your usual number and Following your normal setting. Click it, type the limit for this date and click Set. Type 0 for no limit that day.

6. Save. The row now shows your new number, with your usual one underneath (Normally 40, say), and the meal is marked Modified. On the phone, tap Done. Type a Description at the top if you like, such as Christmas Eve limit, so it’s easy to spot on the calendar. Then click Save at the top right.

In NomNom Web: More → Schedule changes → pick the date → New change → Modify times → pick the meal. In the phone app: menu → Schedule Changes → tap the date → Add Schedule Change → Modify Times → tap the meal.

What the limit counts

It’s the total number of guests who can book that meal online on that date, added up across all its sittings — not per time. Each area counts separately, so if Dinner runs in two areas, set the limit in each. Bookings your team takes count towards the total, but they’re never refused because of it.

Good to know

  • Your times don’t change. Setting only a limit leaves the meal’s times as they normally are, including any changes you make to them later.
  • It isn’t the only check. A higher limit doesn’t make room on its own: every other check still applies (see How NomNom decides which times to offer online).
  • Going back to normal. Click the small cross next to the number, or clear the box and click Set, then Save. If nothing else on that date was changed, saving removes the whole schedule change. Restore Defaults (Restore on the phone) puts back the meal’s usual times and its usual limit together.
  • Several dates. Choose Date range and set Start, End and Days. The limit applies to each of those days on its own.
  • Your usual setting stays put. The meal’s Online maximum guests under Configuration → Meals isn’t touched.
  • Admins only. Everyone can see schedule changes, but only admins can add or change them (see What Admin, Standard and Read-only staff can do).
