Your booking page always asks for the few things you need to hold a table and reach the guest. On top of that, you choose a handful of extras: a notes box, children, allergens and a mailing-list tick box. Here’s what’s fixed and what you can change.
What every guest is asked
- How many (Number of Guests), then a date and a time.
- Your Details: First Name, Last Name, Email and Mobile. All four are always required and can’t be switched off. A guest who leaves one empty sees Please fill in all required fields.
- Your terms. Before confirming, they tick to accept your Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy. See Adding your booking terms and privacy policy.
- A card or deposit, only when the meal asks for one. See Setting up deposits and card requirements on a meal.
To see the whole journey from the guest’s side, read What your guests see when they book online, step by step.
Choose the extras
1. Open Online Booking. In NomNom Web, open Settings from the account menu (top right) or the button at the bottom of the left-hand bar, then choose Online Booking & Discover. Settings is for admins only.
2. Go to BOOKING OPTIONS and switch on the ones you want:
- Allow notes adds a Special Requests or Notes (Optional) box. What guests write goes in the booking’s Notes, which can be repeated back to them in their confirmation, so see Booking notes and internal notes: what your guest can see.
- Children selection changes the first question to Number of Adults, with a + Add children button underneath. Set the most children one booking can bring with Maximum children under ONLINE BOOKING PARTY SIZE: see Setting the largest party that can book online, and a large-party message.
- Allergen selection adds a + Add allergens button. Guests pick from your own list in Settings → Allergens, and what they pick is saved as the booking’s allergies, so your team sees the allergy on the booking. See Recording a guest’s allergies and setting your allergen list.
- Mailing list option adds a tick box on the last step: Join our mailing list to receive exclusive offers and updates. It’s never ticked for the guest. To send those guests to Mailchimp automatically, use Sync opt-ins to Mailchimp just below it.
There’s no Save button: each switch saves as you change it, and the booking page uses it the next time it’s opened.
In NomNom Web: Settings → Online Booking & Discover → BOOKING OPTIONS. In the phone app: menu → Settings → Online Booking & Discover → BOOKING OPTIONS.
What the guest sees
With notes and allergens both on, the Your Details step shows the four contact boxes, then the notes box with + Add allergens under it.
Two more questions you can add
- Dogs. Dog bookings, in the same list, adds Bringing a dog? to the first step. See Welcoming guests with dogs.
- High chairs. High chairs available adds High chairs needed?. See Letting guests ask for high chairs.
Good to know
- Allergens without notes. If you switch Allow notes off but leave Allergen selection on, the notes box goes and + Add allergens stays, so guests can still tell you about allergies.
- Starting points. Notes and allergens start on. Children start off.
- Online only. These choices only change your booking page. Your team’s own booking form always has notes, children and allergies.
- Mobile numbers. Guests can type any number. Texts only go to UK mobiles: see Texts aren’t reaching your guests: what to check.
- The other switches here change how times are shown or offered, not what’s asked: see Showing meal and room names on your booking page’s times and Stopping last-minute online bookings ("No bookings within").
