When a guest picks a time on your booking page, NomNom can show headings above the times: the area each time is in, the meal it belongs to, or both. Two switches control this: Display rooms and Display meal.
Switch the headings on or off
1. Open your online booking settings. In NomNom Web, open Settings from the account menu at the top right (or the button at the bottom of the left-hand bar) and choose Online Booking & Discover. You’ll need to be an admin.
2. Find BOOKING OPTIONS. It’s the list of switches below YOUR RESTAURANT.
3. Switch Display rooms and Display meal on or off. Each change saves as soon as you make it.
4. Check the result. Click Test Online Booking near the bottom of the same screen and pick a date. If your booking page was already open, refresh it.
In NomNom Web and the phone app: Settings → Online Booking & Discover → BOOKING OPTIONS.
Display rooms
This is on unless you turn it off. If your venue has more than one area, each area with free times gets its own heading, in the order your areas are listed under Configuration → Areas. Any description you’ve written for an area shows under its name. The guest chooses the area by picking a time under it, and their table always comes from that area.
Turn it off and guests see one combined list of times, with no area names or descriptions. NomNom then chooses the area for them, trying your areas in the order they’re listed (see How NomNom picks a table for an online booking). That suits venues that move tables around on the day and would rather not have guests choosing a room.
Display meal
This is off unless you turn it on. When it’s on, the times sit under the name of their meal, such as Sunday Lunch or Dinner. With Display rooms on too, a venue with more than one area gets combined headings such as Dinner — Garden. An event’s times sit under the event’s name.
On a day with more than one meal or event, guests already pick one first under Select Meal, so there the heading confirms which meal they’re looking at. It’s most useful when your meal names tell guests something, like Early Bird or Tasting Menu, or when a day only has one meal and you want them to know which.
What guests see
- Both off: one list of times under Select Time.
- Display rooms on, one area: no heading, but the area’s description, if it has one, shows above the times.
- Display rooms on, several areas: a heading for each area, such as Restaurant and Garden.
- Display meal on, with one area or Display rooms off: the meal name, such as Dinner.
- Both on, several areas: Dinner — Restaurant, Dinner — Garden and so on.
Good to know
- Only areas that take online bookings appear. An area with its Online switch off never shows, and an area with nothing free at that time is left out while the others keep their headings. See Setting up your areas and tables.
- Adding an area description. In NomNom Web, type it in the box under the area’s name in Configuration → Areas and click Save. In the phone app, go to Configuration → Areas, tap the area and use Description (optional).
- The headings use your own names for areas and meals, exactly as they’re set up in Configuration.
- Only the booking page changes. Bookings in NomNom Web and the phone app look the same whichever you choose.
