Your rooms don’t all have to take bookings at the same times. The terrace might take lunch bookings from 12 until 3 while the dining room stops at 2, or the snug might start its evening sittings later than the restaurant. You can give any room its own booking times for a meal, and the rest carry on sharing your default list. (Your rooms are the areas you’ve set up under Configuration → Areas.)
How it works
Each meal has a default list of booking times that every room uses. Any room can have its own list for a meal instead. A room uses one list or the other, never a mix: once it has its own list, it uses only those times for that meal, and changes you make to the default list don’t reach it. The one exception is any days you choose to let follow the default list, which is explained further down.
Give a room its own times
1. Open Times. In NomNom Web, click Configuration at the bottom of the left-hand bar (it’s also in the account menu, top right), then choose Times.
2. Pick the room. In the ROOM row at the top, click the room — the Terrace, say. All rooms (default) is the default list itself.
3. Pick the meal and check the season. Click the meal in the MEAL row. Only the meals that room serves are listed. If you use seasons, check the SEASON row at the bottom of the panel. Default there means your normal, year-round times.
4. Start the room’s own list. You’ll see Terrace uses the default Lunch times. and two buttons:
- Copy from default copies the default list into the room, each time with its MAX, TURN, days and WEB setting, so you only need to change what’s different.
- Create override opens Add times, so you can build the room’s list from scratch.
5. Change what’s different. Add or delete times, or click a time’s MAX, TURN, days or WEB switch to change it. There’s no Save button because each change saves as soon as you make it.
In NomNom Web: Configuration → Times → pick the room in the ROOM row. In the phone app: Configuration → Times, pick the meal at the top, then the room in the Room row.
Seeing which rooms have their own times
- A small dot before a room’s name in the ROOM row means it has its own times for the meal and season you’re looking at.
- When you pick that room, a banner reads Custom Lunch times for Terrace. and has Stop overriding beside it.
- On All rooms (default), a note lists any rooms that have their own times, as a reminder that changes you make there won’t reach them.
Let some days follow the default list
A room with its own list doesn’t have to go its own way every day. On any of its times, you can set particular days to follow the default list. Then, when you open or close that day on the default list, the room does the same. Say the Terrace takes the same lunch times as the rest of the pub but never opens on a Monday. Set Monday to closed and let the other six days follow the default list. If you later close Tuesday lunch on the default list, the Terrace closes on Tuesdays too.
1. Click a day. On the room’s list, each click on a day under DAYS moves it to the next setting: open (green tick), closed (red cross), follows the default list (grey), then back to open.
2. Or change lots of times at once. Tick the times (or use Select → Select all), click Modify and choose Use default days. All seven days start ticked. Untick any that should keep the room’s own setting, then click Apply.
A grey day shows the setting it’s following. A grey tick means the default list has that time open on that day, and a grey cross means it’s closed. Copy from default copies the days as the room’s own settings, so none of them follow the default list until you set them to.
In NomNom Web: Configuration → Times → pick the room → click a day, or Modify → Use default days.
Putting a room back on the default list
Pick the room, click Stop overriding on its banner, then click Stop overriding again to confirm. The room’s own times for that meal and season are removed, and it goes back to using the default list. Deleting every time on the room’s list has the same effect.
Good to know
- Bookings follow it automatically. NomNom works out each room’s availability from its own times, both for online bookings and for the ones you take. To hide a time from online guests, turn its WEB switch off. You can still book it yourself.
- MAX counts differently on a room’s own list. On a room’s own list, a time’s MAX counts only that room’s bookings for that meal at that time, including on days that follow the default list. On the default list, MAX counts every booking at that time, in every room. Either way, it only limits online bookings, and 0 means no limit.
- A limit for the whole building. If you also want one limit across every room at a given time, use Venue limits at the top of Times.
- No falling back. On a day when none of the room’s own times run, that room takes no bookings for that meal. It doesn’t switch to the default list for the day. If that’s what you want, set those days to follow the default list.
- Following days need a matching default time. A day that follows the default list looks for the same time on the default list. If there’s no such time, the day is closed, and the banner tells you how many of the room’s times this affects.
- Each season is separate. A room’s own times belong to the season picked at the bottom of Times, so set the room up in every season that needs it. During a season, a room without its own list for that season uses that season’s default times. When you add a season and copy times into it, rooms’ own lists are copied too.
- The room has to serve the meal. Meals are set up per room under Configuration → Meals. If a room doesn’t serve a meal at all, change that in Meals, not here.
- In the phone app, the Room row only appears when more than one room serves the meal, and the button reads Create override for followed by the room’s name. You set days to follow the default list in NomNom Web.
