Your booking page asks guests how many are coming by showing a row of numbers to tap. You decide how high those numbers go, so a group bigger than you want to take online can’t book itself in. You can also add a Large party message under the party size, telling bigger groups to ring you instead.
Set the largest party that can book online
1. Open your online booking settings. In NomNom Web, click Settings at the bottom of the left-hand bar and choose Online Booking & Discover. Scroll down to ONLINE BOOKING PARTY SIZE.
2. Choose the maximum. Click Maximum guests and pick a number: 1 to 10, 12, 15 or 20. Until you change it, it’s 10. Your choice saves as soon as you pick it.
3. Asking about children? Set both. If Children selection is switched on (under BOOKING OPTIONS on the same page), guests choose adults and children separately. The row then reads Maximum adults, and a Maximum children row appears under it. The biggest party a guest can book is the two added together, so 8 adults and 4 children allows a party of up to 12.
In NomNom Web: Settings → Online Booking & Discover → ONLINE BOOKING PARTY SIZE. In the phone app: Settings → Online Booking & Discover → ONLINE BOOKING PARTY SIZE.
Add a large party message
1. Click Large party message. It’s the last row under ONLINE BOOKING PARTY SIZE, and shows None until you write one.
2. Write your message and click Save. For example: For more than 12 guests, please call us on [PHONE] and we’ll look after you. Wherever you type [PHONE], square brackets and all, your booking page shows the Phone number from Settings → Restaurant Details, so the message stays right if your number changes. Line breaks you type show on the page too.
3. Check it on your booking page. The message sits on the first step, under the party size and just above Next. Every guest sees it, whatever number they pick, so word it for the groups it’s meant for. Test Online Booking, further down the same settings page, opens your booking page so you can see it as a guest would.
To take the message off, open it, delete the text and click Save. With nothing written, nothing shows.
How this differs from your other guest limits
- This setting is about the size of one party. A meal’s Online maximum guests caps how many guests that meal takes online across the whole day — see Limiting how many guests can book online.

Good to know
- Your team isn’t limited. This only changes what the booking page offers. You can still take a party of any size yourself — see Taking a booking over the phone.
- A number isn’t a promise of a table. A party of 12 is only offered times when there’s room for 12. See How NomNom picks a table for an online booking.
- Guests changing their own booking. If you let guests change their booking online, they can’t raise their party above the same maximum.
- No phone number set? If Restaurant Details has no phone number, [PHONE] comes out blank. Add your number there first.
- Everywhere guests book. The same limit and message apply on your booking link and on the booking form on your own website (see Putting the booking form on your own website).
- Admins only. These settings are the same in NomNom Web and the phone app, and only admins can change them.
