Who owns your NomNom account, and changing the owner

Every NomNom account has one owner: the sign-in that was created when the account was set up. For most venues, that’s the sign-in with the username admin and the email address used to sign up. In People & Access, NomNom calls your account a company, so you’ll sometimes see the owner called the company owner.

Day to day, the owner is simply an Admin. Any Admin can change settings, look after billing and manage your team. What’s different is a handful of protections, so that there’s always someone who can get into everything.

Who the owner is

If you set up NomNom yourself, it’s probably you. In People & Access, look for admin with the email address you signed up with; if someone has given that sign-in a display name, you’ll see the name instead. NomNom doesn’t label the owner on screen, so if you’re not sure, ask NomNom support.

In NomNom Web: account menu (top right) → People & Access. In the phone app: Settings → People & Access.

What’s different about the owner

  • Always an Admin. Choose Standard or Read-only for the owner and you’ll see The company owner must remain an admin. Their role stays as it was.
  • Can’t be switched off. Turning Active off for the owner shows The company owner cannot be deactivated.
  • Sees every venue. If more than one of your venues is on the same NomNom account, the owner can open all of them, including any added later. Everyone else sees only the venues ticked for them under Venues.
  • Receives sign-in codes for staff without an email. When someone signs in with a username on your team’s sign-in link and asks for a one-time code, it goes to their own email address, or to the owner’s if they don’t have one.

Changing the owner

You can’t change the owner yourself; NomNom support does it for you — when the business changes hands, say, or the person who set up NomNom is leaving.

1. Add the new owner if they’re not on your team yet. In People & Access, click Add person, give them their own email address and choose Admin.

2. Contact NomNom support. Tell us your venue’s name, and the name and email address of the new owner.

3. Tidy up afterwards. Once the change is made, the old owner is an ordinary Admin. If they’re leaving, switch Active off for them in People & Access.

If the owner is staying the same and just has a new email address, you don’t need us: change it on the Users page of the admin portal. See Changing the email address someone signs in with.

Good to know

  • The admin portal protects the owner too. On the Users page at nomnom-app.net/admin, changing the owner’s Role shows The company owner must remain an admin., and deleting them shows The company owner cannot be deleted.
  • Leaving without handing over? The owner can’t be switched off, so change the owner first, then switch the old one off.
