Every so often we have a new version of the phone app ready to try before it goes out to everyone. Switch on Beta Testing and your venue’s phones will be offered these test versions as they come out, so you can use new features early and tell us what you think.
Test versions are still being finished, so they can have rough edges. It’s best for a venue that’s happy to spot the odd problem and let us know.
Turn on Beta Testing
You need to be an admin, and to use the phone app: Beta Testing isn’t in NomNom Web.
1. Open Settings. Tap the menu button (three lines, top left), then Settings.
2. Tap Beta Testing. It’s under ADVANCED, at the bottom of the list. Or type beta into Search settings.
3. Switch on Enabled. It saves as soon as you switch it. If it can’t be saved, the switch goes back and a message says why.
In the phone app: Settings → ADVANCED → Beta Testing → Enabled.
Getting a test version
Nothing installs by itself. When a test version newer than the one on the phone is out, the Update available bar appears at the top of the Reservations screen the next time NomNom starts. Tap Get Update and follow the steps:
- iPhone and iPad: test versions come through Apple’s free TestFlight app, so you may be asked to install TestFlight first.
- Android: test versions come through Google Play, once you’ve joined the test.
When there’s no test version out, the phones are offered the normal updates as usual.
Good to know
- It’s for the whole venue. Every phone signed in to your venue is offered test versions, not just the one you switched it on from.
- Turning it off. Switch Enabled off and phones stop being offered test versions. A phone already on a test version keeps it until a normal update newer than it comes out.
