Seeing who changed a booking: the audit trail

If a booking has moved, grown or been cancelled and nobody remembers doing it, the audit trail will tell you. Every booking keeps a list of the changes made to it — what changed, who changed it and when — with the newest at the top. Only admins can see it.

In NomNom Web: click a booking → Full details → Audit trail. In the phone app: tap a booking → View Details → Audit trail.

Open it in NomNom Web

1. Open the booking’s full details. Click the booking in the list or on the chart, then click Full details in the panel on the right. You can also right-click the booking and choose View details, or double-click it on the chart.

2. Click Audit trail. It’s the last tab, after Details, Notes, Card & Payments and Messages.

Open it in the phone app

Tap the booking, then tap View Details. If your venue asks for a PIN, you’ll enter it first. Then tap Audit trail in the tabs along the bottom of the screen.

Reading an entry

Each entry says what happened and when:

  • Created lists what the booking started with: the guest’s name and contact details, date and time, party size, table, status, notes and so on. In the phone app it says Reservation created.
  • Updated lists each thing that changed, old value first: Table: 4 → 7, say, or Adults: 2 → 4. Cancelling a booking shows as Cancelled: No → Yes, and restoring it as the reverse. In the phone app it says Reservation updated.
  • A dash means the value was blank, and Duration is the turn length in minutes.

Under the heading, by tells you who made the change:

  • A person’s name is whoever was signed in on the device or browser that made the change, followed by the device’s name if it has one. A device that isn’t signed in as a particular person shows your venue’s main admin account.
  • System means nobody on your team: an online booking, a change the guest made through their own booking link, or a change NomNom made automatically. A Created entry that includes Online booking: Yes is a booking the guest made themselves.

Good to know

  • Admins only. The tab doesn’t appear for Standard or Read-only staff. See What Admin, Standard and Read-only staff can do.
  • Payments and messages are kept elsewhere. Card details, payments and refunds are on the Card & Payments tab, and texts and emails are on the Messages tab.
  • Shared devices. If several people use one device signed in as one person, every change shows that person’s name. With Requiring a PIN before staff save a booking switched on, each save sets Taken by to whoever entered the PIN, so a change to Taken by in the trail shows who unlocked that save.
  • Six months. Changes are kept for six months, then cleared.
  • No changes recorded yet means there’s nothing on record for that booking, for example one brought across from another booking system.
