If NomNom won’t open, a busy day won’t load or you see a message about too many requests, it’s nearly always one of a few things — and your bookings are safe. Start with what you can see on the screen.
"Too many requests"
To keep NomNom safe from floods of automated traffic, it accepts up to 120 requests a minute from any one internet connection. Every screen that loads, every day you step to and every booking you save is a request, and each open NomNom Web tab also keeps itself up to date. Every computer, till and phone on your venue’s internet connection shares the same allowance, and so do guests using your booking page on your Wi-Fi.
Go over it and NomNom stops answering that connection until the minute is up. You might see:
- Too many requests just now. followed by how many seconds to wait, when you save or change something.
- Too many attempts — please wait a few minutes and try again. or Too many requests. Please wait a few minutes and try again. on the NomNom Web sign-in page.
- Reconnecting to NomNom... while NomNom is starting up. It waits, then tries again by itself.
- Couldn’t load bookings, with a Try again button, where the day’s bookings should be, or No meals available for this date.
What to do
1. Wait a minute. The allowance starts again within 60 seconds. Don’t keep pressing refresh or Retry in the meantime: every try counts, and keeps the whole venue waiting longer.
2. Then refresh. In NomNom Web, press F5 in the same tab. In the phone app, pull the list of bookings down, or step to another day and back. Everything will be where you left it.
3. If it keeps happening, do less at once. Close NomNom Web tabs nobody is using, on every computer (closing a tab signs it out). If it still happens, let us know roughly when, and how many computers, tills and phones you use.
NomNom won’t open
- Couldn’t connect to NomNom — the computer or phone can’t reach the internet. Check the Wi-Fi or cable, then tap Retry.
- NomNom isn’t responding — NomNom can’t answer just now: for a moment while it’s being updated, or because of too many requests. Your device is still set up, so don’t sign out or set it up again. Wait a minute, then tap Retry.
- You’re back at the sign-in page — NomNom Web signs you out after 12 hours without use, or when you close its tab. Sign in again (see Using NomNom in your web browser).
- NomNom Web is only available on a desktop browser — you’re on a phone or tablet. See Why can’t I open NomNom Web on my phone or iPad?.
- A blank or half-drawn page, or something looks out of date — hold Ctrl and press F5 in the same tab to load a fresh copy. See NomNom Web looks out of date: getting the latest version.
Couldn’t load bookings
If NomNom can’t fetch a day’s bookings — the Wi-Fi dropped, or there were too many requests — it shows Couldn’t load bookings instead of the day. Your bookings haven’t gone anywhere, so don’t start re-entering them: click Try again, or refresh as above. If just one booking is missing rather than the whole day, see A new booking isn’t showing on another screen.
Good to know
- Only NomNom counts. Guests browsing other websites on your Wi-Fi don’t use up the allowance.
- Wrong passwords are separate. Several wrong passwords in a row lock NomNom Web’s sign-in for a while — see Using NomNom in your web browser.
- The phone app waits by itself too: while it shows Reconnecting to NomNom..., leave it be and it carries on when it can.
