When a booking is made or changed — online, in the phone app or on another computer — every other screen normally shows it by itself within moments, with no need to refresh:
- NomNom Web is told as soon as a booking is saved, and checks again every minute while it’s on screen.
- The phone app is sent a silent message that tells it to update while NomNom is open. If it was in the background, it updates when you open it again.
If a booking still hasn’t appeared, work through the checks below. Most of the time it’s there, just hidden by what the screen is set to show.
Check what the screen is showing
Another day. Check the date at the top. Not sure of the day? Search for the guest by surname or phone number: in NomNom Web press / or click the search button at the top; in the phone app, open the menu and tap Search. See Looking up a guest and their booking history.
A meal or room filter. With one meal or room picked, bookings in the others are hidden. In NomNom Web, choose All meals in the left-hand bar and All rooms above the list; in the phone app, All Meals and All Rooms at the top. When a filter hides everything, NomNom Web says so — for example No Dinner bookings for this day.
It’s been cancelled. Cancelled bookings are hidden until you ask for them. In NomNom Web, switch on Show cancelled at the bottom of the screen, or press C. In the phone app, tap the three dots at the top right, then Show Cancelled Bookings.
A different venue. If you have more than one venue, check which one you’re looking at — its name is at the top of the left-hand bar. The booking may be at the other one.
No table yet. On the Chart, a booking without a table sits in the Unallocated row. If that row is folded away, open it. The List view shows every booking, with a table or without.
It isn’t finished yet
A booking only appears once it’s saved. A guest booking online who has a deposit to pay or a card to give isn’t booked until they finish that step, and a colleague’s booking isn’t there until they save it. Meanwhile the Chart may show a grey Online booking block on the table they’re taking. If the guest gives up, the block goes.
Refresh the screen
If it still isn’t there, the screen may have lost touch for a moment — after a Wi-Fi drop, say. If a whole day’s bookings couldn’t be fetched, you’ll see Couldn’t load bookings with a Try again button instead: click it.
In NomNom Web: press F5 in the same tab. You stay signed in. Don’t close the tab, as that signs it out (see NomNom Web looks out of date: getting the latest version).
In the phone app: pull the list of bookings down and let go, or step to another day and back.
If the phone app never updates by itself
The phone app hears about changes through notifications, so it can’t update by itself if notifications are turned off for NomNom in the phone’s own settings. Turn them back on there. If they’re on but new bookings still only appear after you pull to refresh, an admin can open Settings → Notifications on that phone and tap Fix notifications.
In the phone app: Settings → Notifications → Fix notifications.
Good to know
- Booking alerts are separate. Choosing which bookings pop up an alert on a phone doesn’t change this: the list still updates for every booking.
- A tab in the background catches up as soon as you click back into it.
- Whole days missing on every screen? See NomNom isn’t loading, goes blank or says "Too many requests". Too many requests from your internet connection can stop every screen updating for up to a minute.
