When the NomNom app opens, it checks in with NomNom before it shows your diary. Most of the screens you might see along the way don’t mean you’ve been signed out, and entering a new access code when you haven’t been just costs you time. Here’s what each one means. They look the same on a phone and a tablet.
Reconnecting to NomNom...
Underneath, it says Your device is still set up - hang on a moment. The app couldn’t reach NomNom straight away — usually because we’re updating NomNom, or your connection has dropped for a moment. It keeps trying by itself for at least half a minute, and opens your diary as soon as it gets through.
What to do: nothing. Leave it on screen. Don’t sign out and don’t enter a code.
Couldn’t connect to NomNom
With Check your internet connection and try again. underneath. The phone can’t get online. What to do: check its Wi-Fi or mobile data, then tap Retry. The phone is still set up.
NomNom isn’t responding
With Our server is temporarily unavailable. Your device is still set up - please try again in a moment. Your connection is fine, but NomNom didn’t answer after several tries. What to do: wait a minute, then tap Retry. If it’s still there after a few minutes, let us know.
NomNom is locked
With a button such as Unlock with Face ID. Someone has turned on Unlock for this phone, so it asks for the phone’s own Face ID, fingerprint or passcode before NomNom opens. What to do: tap the button and unlock. You’re not signed out.
Couldn’t read this device’s setup
Rare. The phone can’t read its own saved sign-in, though your bookings are safe. What to do: tap Try again, or close and reopen the app. Only if it keeps happening, tap Set up as new device and sign in with a new access code.
Welcome to NomNom: this one means you’re signed out
The Welcome to NomNom screen, with Get Started and Already have an account?, is the only one that means the phone is signed out. That happens when:
- an admin signed this phone out in People & Access, or switched off the person it was set up with. You may see This device’s access has been removed by an administrator. for a moment first;
- someone chose Sign out of device in Settings → Restaurant Details;
- the phone was replaced or reset, or the app was deleted and installed again.
1. Close the app completely and open it again. If it was just a blip, it opens on your diary.
2. Still on Welcome? Get a new code. Ask an admin for an access code (see Signing in on another device), then tap Already have an account? and type it in.
Don’t tap Get Started. That sets up a brand-new restaurant.
Good to know
- The app doesn’t time out. Unlike NomNom Web, which ends a sign-in after 12 hours without use, the app stays signed in until someone signs it out. Closing it or restarting the phone doesn’t sign you out.
- A save fails? If you see Your session has expired. Please sign in again., don’t sign out. If the phone really has been signed out, the app goes to the Welcome screen by itself within a few seconds. If it doesn’t, close and reopen the app and try again.
- Admins can check any phone. Each person’s Devices list shows the phones and tablets they’re signed in on and when each was last used, with a Sign out button. See Managing your team and who can access NomNom.
In NomNom Web: account menu → People & Access → click a person → Devices. In the phone app: Settings → People & Access → tap a person → Devices.
