If the card you pay NomNom with is declined when your monthly payment is due, your subscription is marked Past due. A failed payment doesn’t stop anything: your bookings, your booking page and your texts all carry on as normal while you sort it out. You just need to give Stripe, who take our payments, a card that works.
How to tell
In NomNom Web, click your account button (top right) and choose Account & Billing. Status, at the top of Billing, tells you where you stand:
- Active — you’re paid up.
- Trial — you subscribed during your free trial, and the first payment is taken when it ends.
- Past due — the last payment didn’t go through.
- Cancelled — your subscription has ended.
- No active subscription — there’s no subscription running, usually because you haven’t subscribed yet.
NomNom doesn’t show a warning anywhere else in NomNom Web, so Billing is the place to check. In the admin dashboard, Subscription shows Payment due, with a note asking you to update your payment method.
Put it right
1. Click Update payment method. It’s on Billing, below your card details.
2. Add a card that works. Stripe’s page opens in a new tab. Your details go straight to Stripe and never pass through NomNom.
3. Come back to NomNom. When you see All done, switch back to your NomNom tab, then close Settings and open Billing again to check the card shown.
Once the payment goes through, Status goes back to Active. There’s more on this screen in Changing the card you pay with, and finding your invoices.
In NomNom Web: account button (top right) → Account & Billing → Update payment method. In the admin dashboard: Subscription → Open billing portal. Billing isn’t in the phone app.
Why a payment fails, and what to do
- The card has expired → add your new card with Update payment method.
- The card has been replaced or cancelled, after a change of bank or a lost card → add the new one the same way.
- Your bank declined it, or wanted an extra security check → speak to your bank, then add the card again with Update payment method, or use a different one.
- Someone else holds the card → email support@nomnom-app.net and we can make a billing link for you to send them: it opens Stripe’s payment page for your venue and works for 3 days. Anyone with the link can change your payment details, so only send it to the right person.
Good to know
- No Set Up Subscription while you’re Past due. You already have a subscription, so Billing only offers Update payment method, which is the one you want.
- Still Past due a day later? If you’ve added a working card and Status hasn’t changed after a day, email support@nomnom-app.net and we’ll look into it.
- Showing Cancelled? Your subscription has ended. Click Set Up Subscription to start a new one, or email us if you weren’t expecting it.
- Admins only. Only people with the Admin role can see Billing.
- Guest payments are separate. This is about what you pay NomNom. Your guests’ deposits and card holds go through your own Stripe account (see Connecting card payments with Stripe).
