If bookings keep reaching service with no table, or no number to ring, you can make either one compulsory. Your team then can’t save a new booking without it. Both are off until an admin switches them on.
Switch it on
1. Open Reservation Editing. In NomNom Web, open Settings and choose Reservation Editing. In the phone app, go to Settings and tap Reservation Editing.
2. Choose what’s required. Under REQUIRED FIELDS, switch on Table allocation required, Mobile number required or both. Each one saves as you switch it, and the note underneath sums up what’s now required.
In NomNom Web: Settings → Reservation Editing → REQUIRED FIELDS. In the phone app: Settings → Reservation Editing.
What your team sees
With Table allocation required on, saving a new booking with nothing picked under Tables stops with Please allocate a table. With Mobile number required on, a new booking with nothing in Phone stops with Please enter a mobile number.
In NomNom Web the message shows in red at the bottom of the window; in the phone app it pops up. Nothing you’ve typed is lost: add the table or the number and save again.
What it doesn’t affect
- Bookings you already have. Only new bookings are checked. Your team can still edit any existing booking — change its status, add a note, move it — even if it has no table or number.
- Online bookings. Bookings from your booking page, from Google and from other systems connected to NomNom are never held up by these switches. One that arrives without a table or a number can still be edited as normal.
- Walk-ins and the number. Walk-ins never need a number. They do need a table while Table allocation required is on (see Seating a walk-in).
Good to know
- Any number will do. NomNom only checks that Phone isn’t empty, not that it’s a mobile, so a landline gets through — though texts can’t reach one.
- Every way your team books. The rules cover new bookings made in NomNom Web, including the new design of the booking form and Book another date, and in the phone app.
- Why a mobile helps. Confirmation and reminder texts go to it, if you send them (see When NomNom sends confirmation and reminder texts).
- A PIN is separate. To make staff enter a PIN before they save, see Requiring a PIN before staff save a booking.
