Your voucher page offers the amounts you’ve set, such as £25, £50 and £100. Some buyers want something in between: enough for a meal for two, or to match what they spent last year. Set a custom range and your voucher page adds an Other choice where buyers type their own amount.
Set your range
1. Open your voucher settings. In NomNom Web, open Settings and choose Vouchers under PAYMENTS.
2. Set the minimum. In CUSTOM AMOUNT, click Minimum, type the lowest amount in pounds (for example 10) and click Save.
3. Set the maximum. Click Maximum, type the highest amount (for example 250) and click Save.
You need both. The Other choice only appears once there’s a minimum and a maximum, and the minimum isn’t higher than the maximum. To stop offering it, click either one, clear the box and click Save; it then shows Off.
In NomNom Web: Settings → Vouchers → CUSTOM AMOUNT. In the phone app: Settings → Vouchers → CUSTOM AMOUNT.
What buyers see
Under Choose an amount on your voucher page, an Other tile sits after your usual amounts. When a buyer picks it, a Your amount box opens with your range underneath, for example Choose Other, then enter any amount from £10 to £250. They can include pence, such as £37.50, and the amount they type shows on the Continue to payment button.
Your fixed amounts stay on the page, so buyers can still pick one of those.
The amount is checked before payment
The box won’t take an amount outside your range, and NomNom checks it again before the buyer goes to payment, so a voucher can never be bought for more or less than you allow. If the amount isn’t accepted, the buyer comes back to the page with Please choose one of the voucher amounts, or enter an amount within the range shown, and try again.
NomNom’s own limits still apply on top of yours:
- The platform minimum. Vouchers below it can’t be bought online (see Minimum voucher value under PLATFORM FEES). If your minimum is lower, the box starts at the platform minimum instead. If your whole range is below it, the Other tile doesn’t appear.
- No voucher can be more than £5,000. A higher maximum is shown as £5,000.
Good to know
- A custom-amount voucher works like any other. It’s emailed, redeemed, refunded and reported in exactly the same way (see Redeeming a gift voucher and spending part of it).
- Fees are worked out the same way as on your fixed amounts (see What NomNom and Stripe charge on deposits, vouchers and SMS).
- Check it yourself. Click Open purchase page in the same settings to see the page as buyers do.
