Keyboard shortcuts in NomNom Web

NomNom Web has keyboard shortcuts for the things you do most on a busy shift. Press ? on the main screen at any time to see them all in the Keyboard shortcuts window, then click Close. On most keyboards, ? is Shift and the / key.

Shortcuts work on the main diary screen, not inside an open window. They never fire while you’re typing in a box, so an N in a guest’s name won’t open a new booking.

In NomNom Web: press ? on the main screen. The phone app doesn’t have keyboard shortcuts.

Moving between days

  • [ and ] — previous and next day.
  • { and } — back and forward one week. On most keyboards that’s Shift with [ or ].
  • T — today.

Filtering the day

  • 1 to 9 — meal filter. 1 is All meals, 2 is the first meal under Meals in the left-hand bar, 3 the next, and so on. Use the number keys along the top of the keyboard.
  • R — cycle the room filter: All rooms, then each room in turn. It only does something if you have more than one room.
  • C — show or hide cancelled bookings, the same as Show cancelled at the bottom of the screen.

Working through the list

These keys work in the List view.

  • Up and down arrows, or J (down) and K (up) — move between bookings.
  • Enter or the right arrow — open the booking’s details in the side panel.
  • Esc or the left arrow — close the details. Press it again to clear the selection.
  • Home and End — jump to the first or last booking.
  • . (full stop) — jump back to the NOW line on today’s list.

Everything else

  • N — new reservation, the same as New reservation in the left-hand bar. Staff with Read-only access can’t make bookings, so it does nothing for them (see What Admin, Standard and Read-only staff can do).
  • / — search bookings & customers. Type, then press Enter to open the top booking, or to start a new booking for the top customer if no bookings match. Esc closes the search.
  • Ctrl+B — collapse or expand the left-hand bar (the sidebar). It’s Ctrl on a Mac too, not Cmd. In a narrow window it slides the bar in and out.
  • ? — this help.

Good to know

  • Esc closes windows. Settings, Configuration, Reports and most other windows close with Esc. With no window open, it closes the booking’s side panel, in Chart and Plan as well as List.
  • Hints on the buttons. Hover over the day arrows, the search button or the menu button at the left end of the top bar, and the tip shows its shortcut — Previous day [, for example.
  • Holding a key is fine. Holding down [ or ] races through the days, but NomNom only loads the day you stop on. To jump a long way, clicking the date in the calendar in the left-hand bar is quicker.
  • Zoom works as on any website: Ctrl and + to zoom in, Ctrl and - to zoom out and Ctrl and 0 to reset (Cmd on a Mac).
