Giving an area its own confirmation email

If one of your areas is run like a separate venue — a café beside the restaurant, a private dining room with its own menu, a function room — it can send guests its own confirmation email. An area can also stop the automatic email for bookings your team enters there, for example where you send your own paperwork for private hire.

Give an area its own template

1. Make the template. Write it in Settings → Email Settings → Email Templates, with its own wording, buttons and, if you like, its own picture. See Customising your confirmation emails.

2. Open the area. In NomNom Web, open Configuration, choose Areas and click the area. Its Area details window opens.

3. Pick the template under Confirmation email. Standard confirmation means your Default Confirmation. If the template isn’t there yet, Manage templates… at the bottom of the list takes you to Email Templates.

4. Click Save.

The Area details window in NomNom Web for Private Dining, with Confirmation email set to a Private dining template and Email guests about bookings staff enter switched off

In NomNom Web: Configuration → Areas → click the area → Confirmation email. In the phone app: Configuration → Areas → tap the area.

Which template a booking gets

  • An event with its own template always uses it, on the event’s date.
  • Otherwise, the area’s template, if the area has one.
  • Otherwise, the meal’s template. An event booking skips this step and gets your Default Confirmation.

The area comes before the meal because meals are matched by name across all your areas: a template on Dinner can’t tell the restaurant’s Dinner from the private dining room’s, but the area can.

Stop emails for bookings your team enters

In the same window, switch off Email guests about bookings staff enter and click Save. From then on, bookings your team enters in that area send the guest no confirmation email when they’re made, moved or restored.

  • Online bookings are still emailed: from your booking page, your Discover page, your own website and Reserve with Google. A guest who books online always hears back.
  • You can still send it yourself. Open the booking, go to Messages, click Send email and choose Reservation confirmation.
  • Texts aren’t affected. Confirmation and reminder texts carry on as set in Settings → SMS Service.
