Finding any booking by name, reference, phone or email

A guest rings to change their booking and you’re not sure which day it’s on. Search looks through every booking your venue has taken, past and future, not just the day on screen, and finds it by name, booking reference, phone number or email.

Search in NomNom Web

1. Open Search. Press / (forward slash) anywhere in the diary, or click the magnifying glass in the top bar.

2. Type at least two characters. Results appear as you type, in two groups. BOOKINGS shows each booking’s guest, reference, date and time, covers, room and status. CUSTOMERS shows guests from your guest list, with their phone, email and how many times they’ve booked.

3. Open the booking. Click it, or press Enter for the top result. NomNom moves your diary to that booking’s date and opens its full details. When you close them, you’re on that day, ready to make the change.

4. Or book a returning guest. Click a name under CUSTOMERS (it says New booking) to start a new reservation with their name, phone and email already filled in. A star means they’re a VIP.

Press Esc to close Search without opening anything.

In NomNom Web: the magnifying glass in the top bar, or press /. In the phone app: menu → Search.

Search in the phone app

Open the menu at the top left and tap Search, then type into Name, reference, phone or email. Bookings appear under Reservations; tap one to open it. If your venue uses PINs, you’ll enter yours first. To find a guest instead, tap Customers and then New reservation beside their name.

Tips for finding it first time

  • Full names work. Search Sam Taylor, Taylor Sam or just one of the names.
  • Type a reference with or without the dash. Your guest’s emails and texts show it with a dash, like KMP-482, and KMP482 finds it too.
  • Type a phone number any way. 07700 900123, 07700900123 and +44 7700 900123 all find the same booking, and so do its last six digits.
  • Part of an email is enough, such as the part before the @.
  • Capitals don’t matter.

Good to know

  • Best matches come first. Where several match equally well, the latest date comes first, so a regular’s upcoming booking sits above their past visits. You’ll see up to 100 bookings, so for a common name, type more of it.
  • Cancelled bookings are included, marked Cancelled, in NomNom Web and the phone app.
  • No matches means nothing fits what you typed. Search didn’t run (on the phone, Couldn’t run that search) means NomNom couldn’t connect, so it isn’t an answer: check your connection and try again.
  • For a guest’s whole history, see Looking up a guest and their booking history.
