Every text NomNom sends a guest uses SMS credits: one for a standard text of up to 160 characters, more for a longer one. You buy credits in packs, separately from your NomNom subscription, and they stay on your balance until they’re used. If you’re a UK venue on your free trial, you already have some.
Free credits on your trial
New venues in the UK start their free trial with 50 free SMS credits, already on the balance. There’s nothing to claim. It’s a one-off, not a monthly allowance, and any you haven’t used stay on your balance when you subscribe.
Confirmation and reminder texts are switched on from the start, so the credits go to work as soon as guests book. To stop either, open Settings → SMS Service and switch off Enabled under INSTANT SMS or REMINDER SMS. Fifty credits covers up to 50 standard texts, plenty to try both on your first few services.

Checking your balance
In NomNom Web, your balance is under SMS CREDITS at the bottom right of the screen. Click it to see roughly how many texts it covers. It’s also in the account menu at the top right. In the phone app, it’s SMS Credits at the bottom of the bookings screen.
Everyone on your team can see the balance, but only people with the Admin role can buy credits.
Buying credits
1. Click Top up. In NomNom Web, click SMS CREDITS at the bottom right, then Top up SMS. Or open the account menu and click Top up beside your credits. In the phone app, go to Settings → SMS Service and tap Top up SMS credits.
2. Pick a pack. The SMS credit top-up page opens in a new browser tab, or in your phone’s browser. Each pack shows its price and the cost per credit, and the bigger packs work out cheaper per credit. Prices don’t include VAT, which is added when you pay.
3. Click Buy now and pay. You pay on Stripe’s secure payment page, then land back on the top-up page, which says Payment successful.
4. Check your balance. The credits are added as soon as the payment clears, usually within a minute. NomNom Web picks up the new balance on its own every minute or so.

In NomNom Web: SMS CREDITS (bottom right) → Top up SMS, or account menu → Top up. In the phone app: Settings → SMS Service → Top up SMS credits.
A warning before you run out
When your balance falls to 100 credits or fewer, NomNom Web shows it in amber and warns Running low — top up soon to keep sending reminders. The phone app adds a Top up button beside SMS Credits for Admins.
To change when that happens, open Settings → SMS Service, click Low credit threshold, type a number and click Save. Reset goes back to 100, and 0 turns the warning off.

Invoices for top-ups
Stripe raises an invoice for every top-up, and it’s listed under Invoices in Settings, alongside your subscription invoices (see Changing the card you pay with, and finding your invoices). If an older top-up’s invoice isn’t there, contact support.
Good to know
- Each venue has its own balance. Credits bought for one venue can’t be used by another.
- Long texts cost more. Emoji, curly quotes and long venue names can double what a text costs. Texts aren’t reaching your guests: what to check explains how to keep them to one credit.
- The admin dashboard sells the same packs. Open it from the account menu, Admin dashboard, then SMS Credits.
