Running the same event on several nights — a quiz every Thursday, say, or a week of festival suppers? In the phone app you can create every date in one go, rather than duplicating the event again and again.
Create the dates
1. Start a new event. Go to Configuration → Events and tap + Add. To base it on an event you’ve run before, tap that event and choose Duplicate Event instead.
2. Fill it in as usual. Give it a Name, choose the Room and set the Date to the first night. Add the sitting times, guest limit and anything else it needs (see Setting up events and sharing their booking link).
3. Tap Repeat on. It says Just this date to begin with. A calendar opens with the first night already filled in. Tap each other date you want (tap again to take one off) and use the arrows to move between months. The line at the top keeps count: This event runs on 4 dates.
4. Tap Done. Repeat on now shows how many dates you’ve chosen, with a reminder underneath: All dates share the same sitting times and card/deposit rules.
5. Tap Save. NomNom creates the dates one after another, and the button shows Creating 2 of 4... as it goes. Leave the window open until it’s finished. It then closes, and each date appears in your events list.
In the phone app: Configuration → Events → + Add → Repeat on. This is phone-app only: NomNom Web doesn’t have Repeat on, so there, use Duplicate Event once for each extra date.
Dates you can’t pick
Greyed-out, crossed-through days are either in the past or already have an event with this name. The key under the calendar says Already has this event, or in the past. You can choose up to 12 dates in all, counting the first night; once you reach 12, the other days grey out until you take one off. To move the first night, close the calendar and change Date.
If some dates don’t save
If NomNom can’t create every date, the window stays open and says what happened — Created 3 of 4 dates., for example — with each date that didn’t save and why. Dates under Skipped were left out before saving, perhaps because you changed the name to one those dates already use. The dates that were created are live and bookable, so don’t tap Save again. Tap Cancel to close the window, check the list, and add any missing dates on their own.
How the dates are linked
Each date becomes its own event in your list, all with the same name and all on the same public link. Because they share a name, they share one set of sitting times (with each sitting’s guest limit), public notice and card and deposit rules: change any of those on one date and every date changes. Each date does keep its own Online Booking switch, so you can take one night offline without touching the rest, and deleting one date leaves the others in place.
Good to know
- Repeat on is for new events. It appears when you add or duplicate an event, not when you edit one.
- Every date gets the same set-up. The areas, sitting times and settings you choose before tapping Save go on every date.
- Making one date different. Rename that date and it goes its own way, with its own copy of the sitting times, notice and card and deposit rules, and its own link. The other dates keep the original name.
