If your till or EPOS supplier wants your NomNom bookings on the till — so staff can see tonight’s covers, or match a bill to a booking — we can give them read-only access with an API key. Your supplier does the setting up; you just ask us for the key.
How it works
An API key is like a password for software. Your supplier puts it into your till, and the till uses it to read your bookings from NomNom. Each key reads one venue’s bookings, and it can only read: the till can’t take, change or cancel a booking with it.
There’s no ready-made connection to any particular till, so your supplier builds the link at their end. Check with them first that they can.
There’s nothing to switch on in NomNom Web or the phone app: keys come from us.
Ask for a key
1. Talk to your supplier. Make sure they can connect to NomNom. They’ll find the technical guide under Developer API on the NomNom website.
2. Email us. Write to support@nomnom-app.net, ideally from your venue’s own email address. Tell us which venue it’s for, who your supplier is and who should receive the key. We only issue a key with your agreement.
3. We send the key. It goes securely to the person you named. It’s shown once: we only keep a scrambled copy, so we can’t look it up again later.
4. Your supplier adds it to the till. Your bookings then start to appear. How soon a new or changed booking shows up depends on how often the till checks, which your supplier decides.
What your till can see
For every booking, in all your areas, the till can read:
- the date, time and turn length
- the number of adults and children
- the guest’s name, mobile number and email address
- the table or tables, and the booking reference
- its status — your own status name, plus whether the guests are booked, seated or have left, or the booking was cancelled or a no-show (see Creating your own booking statuses)
- the guest’s Notes, which the guest can see too
- how much has been paid towards it
- whether it was a walk-in, an online booking or taken by your team
- when it was made and when it last changed
Cancelled bookings stay in the list, marked as cancelled, so the till can take them off.
What it can’t see
- Internal notes. Anything in Internal notes (staff only) stays in NomNom (see Booking notes and internal notes: what your guest can see).
- Allergies. These are health details, so they aren’t shared.
- Card details. No card numbers, cards on file, or the links guests use to pay or cancel.
- Everything else. Not the meal or area, dogs, high chairs or who took the booking, and not your guest list, vouchers or settings.
Good to know
- One venue per key. If you run several venues, each one needs its own key.
- Switching it off. Changing supplier, or worried the key has got out? Email us and we’ll switch it off. It stops working straight away.
- Lost key? We can’t send the same one again, but we can issue a new key and switch the old one off.
- Your guests’ details. The till can read guests’ names and contact details, so only ask for a key for a supplier you trust with them.
- No charge to you. We don’t charge your venue for this.
