Every booking has a Card & Payments tab. It shows the card saved on the booking, every payment taken through NomNom or recorded by your team, and any refunds, and it’s where you charge, record and refund. Here’s what each part means.
In NomNom Web: double-click the booking (or click it, then Full details) → Card & Payments. In the phone app: tap the booking → Card & Payments.
The top of the tab
- The card. If a card is saved on the booking, you’ll see its type, last four digits and expiry date where NomNom has them, or just Card on file.
- Paid after refunds. The big figure: everything paid on the booking, less anything refunded. It’s the same amount as the green paid icon in your bookings list and Paid in the NomNom Web side panel.
- Refunded. If anything has been given back, the total refunded shows in red: under the figure in NomNom Web (Refunded £20.00), and beside it in the phone app.
The buttons
- Record adds money you took outside NomNom, on your card machine or in cash (see Recording card machine and cash payments).
- Payment link sends the guest a link to pay an amount you choose (see Sending a guest a payment link). In the phone app it’s the link icon.
- Charge appears when a card is saved, and takes money from it (see Charging a no-show or late-cancellation fee).
- Request card appears instead when there’s no card, and sends the guest a link to add one (see Taking a card to hold a booking).
Admin and Standard staff can use these. Read-only staff see the tab without the buttons, in NomNom Web and the phone app.
Each payment
Payments are listed one per row, each showing:
- The amount first taken, even if some has since been refunded.
- How it was taken, for money your team recorded: Card reader, Cash, or Manual for anything else. Payments taken through NomNom have no label here.
- A refund chip: Refunded when all of it went back, or the amount, such as £20.00 refunded, when part did.
- A description, the card it came from, and the date and time.
- What it was for: No-show charge, Final bill or Cancellation fee. A deposit has no label.
If there’s nothing yet, you’ll see No payments recorded. If the list can’t load, you’ll see Couldn’t load payments and a button to try again.
Refunds
Admins see Tap to refund on every payment that isn’t fully refunded. Click or tap the payment:
- A payment taken through NomNom opens Refund payment, showing Max refund. The money goes back to the guest’s card and they’re emailed.
- A card machine or cash payment opens Record refund. Give the money back on your machine or from the till first; this only records it.
See Refunding a deposit or card payment.
Good to know
- Refunds made in Stripe show here too, once NomNom support has switched that on for your account. Refunding from NomNom is still the simplest.
- Only NomNom’s money. Payments on your till don’t appear unless you record them.
- Awaiting card isn’t shown on this tab: it’s a chip in your bookings list (see Taking a deposit for a booking made over the phone).
- Two payments that look alike? See A guest says they were charged twice.
