Most limits you set in NomNom stop your booking page taking more than you can handle. They don’t stop your team. Bookings you take yourself, in NomNom Web or the phone app, can go past them, because the person on the phone often knows something the booking page can’t — a table that will turn early, a regular you’ll always squeeze in. So if a time has more guests than its limit, someone has almost certainly booked it in by hand. It isn’t a fault.
Here, online means your booking page, the booking button on your website, NomNom Discover and Reserve with Google, including guests changing their own booking.
Limits that only apply online
- A time’s MAX (Configuration → Times). Online: the time stops being offered once a party would take it over. Your team: not stopped. The booking form shows how full it is, such as 18 / 20 guests.
- Online maximum guests on a meal, or an Online guest limit for this date on a schedule change. Online: the meal closes once the day’s bookings reach it. Your team: not stopped or warned.
- Venue limits. Online: a time closes once the whole venue is full at that time. Your team: NomNom Web warns them first, and they can choose Book anyway. The phone app doesn’t warn.
- High chairs available. Online: a family needing more high chairs than are left for that meal isn’t offered it. Your team: can add high chairs to any booking.
- Smallest party online on a table. Online: smaller parties never get that table. Your team: can seat anyone there.
- The online switches: an area’s Online, a meal’s Bookable online, a time’s WEB, a table’s Online booking, and Disable online booking on a schedule change. Online: hidden. Your team: books as normal.
- Dog friendly tables. Online: once you’ve marked any, guests bringing a dog are only offered these. Your team: can seat a dog anywhere.
- No bookings within, and a meal’s Minimum notice and Online booking cut-off. Online: times too close to now aren’t offered. Your team: can book right up to the time.
- Maximum guests (or Maximum adults and Maximum children). Online: bigger parties can’t be chosen. Your team: any size.
Limits that apply to everyone
- Available days on a table. On its days off, the table isn’t offered for a new booking, online or in your team’s booking form, though your team can still drag a booking onto it on the chart.
- Closed dates and meals. A meal you’ve closed under Schedule changes, or one that doesn’t run that day, isn’t offered in your team’s booking form either.
Your team’s bookings still count online
Every booking counts towards your online limits, whoever took it. If your team books 7pm up to its MAX, 7pm closes on your booking page. The same goes for Online maximum guests, venue limits and high chairs. Cancelled bookings don’t count.
Seeing how full a time is
Click Availability in NomNom Web’s left-hand bar to see every time on a day and how many spaces its MAX has left, such as 0 of 20 spaces left. A time that can’t fit the party is outlined in red, but Reserve still works. Tick Only show available times to hide the full ones.
If a booking would take a time over a venue limit, NomNom Web asks first. Book anyway saves it; Cancel takes you back.
In NomNom Web: left-hand bar → Availability. In the phone app: + → New Reservation, where the time list shows how full each time is.
Good to know
- Want your team to stop at a limit? NomNom won’t block them, so make checking the numbers on screen a house rule.
- Closed online but looks free in NomNom? It’s almost always one of the online-only limits. How NomNom decides which times to offer online goes through them in order, and Capping guests at one time across your whole venue covers venue limits.
