Every booking remembers its table by number. If you delete that table in Configuration, the booking keeps the old number, but there’s no longer a table with it. There’s no rename button for tables, so giving a table a new number means adding the new one and deleting the old — and any bookings on the old number are left behind in just the same way.
Why it matters
A booking on a removed table isn’t holding any seat. NomNom doesn’t count it against any of your tables, so at that time they can all still look free to online booking, and the time can be sold to someone else. You could end up with more guests than tables, and a party who booked in good faith with nowhere to sit. It’s easy to miss, too: the booking stays in your list but is gone from the chart’s table rows and the floor plan.
How to spot them
- The bar along the bottom of NomNom Web shows a red count, such as 1 on a removed table, when a booking you’re looking at is on a table that no longer exists. It counts the day on screen, and any area or meal you’ve picked, so step through the days that follow too.
- In the list, the booking has a red broken-link icon. Hover over it to see No longer on the floor plan: 12.
- In the side panel, the same line shows in red under the table.
- On the chart, a booking whose tables have all gone sits in the Unallocated row with a broken-link icon.
- In the phone app, the table number shows in red on the booking, and its details say No longer on the floor plan: 12. On the phone’s chart, a booking whose tables have all gone sits in the Unallocated row, as it does in NomNom Web.
Fix it
1. Deleted it by mistake? Add the table back with exactly the same number, in the same area, under Configuration → Tables → Add tables. Every booking still on that number is back on it straight away. It comes back as a new table, with 2 seats and online booking on, so set its size and other settings again and put it back on your floor plan. Any table group it was part of was deleted along with it, so create that again too.
2. Otherwise, re-seat each booking. In NomNom Web, right-click it, choose Move to table and click a free table. On the chart you can also drag it from the Unallocated row onto a table. In the phone app, tap it and choose Move to.
3. Or do a whole day at once. Open Optimise tables on that day. It suggests a free table that fits for each booking on a removed table, in the same area. Check the moves and click Apply moves. See Optimising your table plan.
If Move to table says No free tables, the time may have been booked online in the meantime. Try another area, or get in touch with the guest.
In NomNom Web: right-click the booking → Move to table. In the phone app: tap the booking → Move to.
On a table too small
Beside the red count you may see an amber one, such as 2 on a table too small. Those bookings are on a table that’s been made smaller since they booked: hover over the amber icon on the booking to see, for example, Party of 6 on a table for 4. They still hold their table, so nothing can be sold over them, but move them to a bigger table or a table group before the day. Optimise tables suggests one for these too.
Good to know
- NomNom warns you before you delete. If future bookings are on a table, the delete confirmation lists them and says their times can be sold again online. Click Cancel and move them first. The whole routine is in Changing your floor plan without stranding future bookings.
- Optimise tables leaves some bookings alone: ones already seated, starting within the next hour, or whose guest requested the table. Move those yourself. For a requested table (a padlock), untick Requested table in the booking first.
- Renaming an area is safe. Its tables and bookings follow the new name.
