Showing your areas on the booking page: order, descriptions and Display rooms

If you have more than one area — a restaurant and a garden, say — your booking page lists its free times under each area’s name, so guests can choose where they’d like to sit. You decide the order the areas appear in, what each one says about itself, and whether guests pick an area at all.

Put your areas in order

1. Open Areas. In NomNom Web, open Configuration from your account menu at the top right, or from the button at the bottom of the left-hand bar, and choose Areas. Only admins see it.

2. Drag an area into place. Hold the handle on the left of an area and drag it up or down. The new order saves as soon as you let go.

Your booking page lists your areas in this order, from the top. It’s also the order NomNom tries your areas in when a guest doesn’t choose one — see How NomNom picks a table for an online booking.

In NomNom Web: Configuration → Areas → drag the handle. In the phone app: Configuration → Areas → Edit → drag an area → Done.

Describe each area

1. Write a line for guests. Under each area’s name in Configuration → Areas there’s a box for a public description. Keep it short and useful: Heated and covered. Dogs welcome. or Our quieter room, with step-free access.

2. Click Save. A Save button appears beside the box as soon as you change it.

On your booking page the description sits under the area’s name, just above its times. If you only have one area, it shows above your times instead.

Should guests choose an area? Display rooms

Display rooms decides whether your booking page splits its times by area. It’s on unless you’ve turned it off.

  • On: times are listed under each area’s name, with its description. The guest picks a time in an area, and their table always comes from that area. The names show whenever you have more than one area, even on a day when only one of them has times left.
  • Off: guests see one combined list of times, with no area names or descriptions. They don’t choose, and NomNom finds them a table by trying your areas in order. It suits venues that move tables around on the day.

To change it, open Settings, choose Online Booking & Discover and switch Display rooms on or off under BOOKING OPTIONS. It saves straight away.

Good to know

  • Full areas drop out. An area only appears when it has a free time for the guest’s date, party size and meal.
  • Hiding an area. Switch off an area’s Online switch in Configuration → Areas and it disappears from your booking page, tables and all. Your team can still book it.
  • Display meal. With Display meal on as well, times are grouped by meal, and each heading names the meal and the area, such as Sunday Lunch — Garden. Within each meal, your areas keep your order.
  • Names. Guests see each area’s name exactly as it’s written in Configuration → Areas.
  • Description length. NomNom Web takes up to 300 characters. A sentence or two reads best.
  • Reserve with Google bookings don’t choose an area either, so your area order decides for them too. See Getting the Reserve button on Google (Reserve with Google).
