NomNom vs TheFork: flat fee or marketplace commission?

We make NomNom, so read this with that in mind — the grid puts our numbers in the same columns as TheFork's. The difference is structural: we are a flat monthly fee for a booking system you point your own guests at, and TheFork is a subscription plus a commission on the covers its marketplace sends you.

NomNom

One plan, one published price, everything in: commission-free booking on your own branded page, Stripe deposits and card holds, SMS reminders, an allergy-aware guest database, gift vouchers, multiple venues and unlimited devices. No contract, no setup fee, 14-day free trial. The honest gap is discovery: there is no diner marketplace.

TheFork

Europe's big diner marketplace, now being acquired by American Express. The subscription is quote-only and marketplace covers carry a commission; bookings through your own website or widget are commission-free.

So which should you choose?

TheFork's marketplace is genuinely large, particularly across Europe, and if you rely on passing trade and visitors that reach is worth paying for. We do not have it. What we do have is a published price, no contract and no per-cover fee, so the bill does not grow as you get busier. The test is the same one we would apply to ourselves: look at where last year's bookings actually came from before you pay a commission on them.

Common questions

How much does NomNom cost compared with TheFork?

NomNom is £29.99 a month per venue with everything included and no per-cover fee. TheFork shows "Ask for pricing" on both of its plans, and adds a commission on covers booked through its marketplace — the vendor describes it as a percentage of your average bill per guest.

Will I lose bookings without a marketplace listing?

It depends entirely on where your bookings come from today. If a meaningful share of your covers arrive through TheFork, leaving means losing them. If most of your bookings come from regulars, your own website and word of mouth, a marketplace fee is buying you demand you already had. Look at last year's numbers before deciding.

Can I run both at once?

Yes, plenty of venues do while they work out the answer. Keep the marketplace listing running, move your own-website bookings onto a commission-free system, and compare where the covers actually come from over a couple of months.

Prices and features were accurate to the best of our knowledge on 11 August 2026, summarised from each vendor's own published information and from third-party trackers. Where a vendor does not publish pricing we say so rather than quoting an estimate as though it were a list price. Booking system pricing changes often — always confirm the current figure with the vendor before you sign anything.
